Providing Palliative Care for those who need it, using the principles of social solidarity.
Our Mission
To provide palliative care for people with advanced illnesses in a home-like setting. Zazen has the triple aim of providing respite for its patients, their loved ones, and our staff.
Social Solidarity
Social solidarity is the principle of cross-subsidising those who can afford to pay with those who can’t. Zazen will accept medical scheme patients and cash paying patients. With these funds, Zazen will also offer beds and high quality care to people who can’t afford to pay, ensuring that Zazen’s services are accessible to all who need it, irrespective of income.Your donation will help us expand our reach for those who can’t afford to pay.
Palliative Care
Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life for patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness.
Our Lodge
We’ve partnered with Sunninghill Guest Lodge to provide a serene setting and holistic care for our guests at Zazen.
Our team at Zazen Respite Care is committed to providing accessible palliative care to all residing in Gauteng province in South Africa. We work to ensure people have choices when faced with making end of life decisions to support their care and reduce the emotional and physical burden on families and loved ones. We collaborate with patients, families, doctors, nurses, social workers, allied health professionals, hospitals and hospices to ensure those living in Gauteng have access to inpatient palliative care services when they need it.
" Thank you to your incredible team for everything you did for my mom and my family. Your staff are all incredible and this is such a difficult time for families but your absolute care and dedication to our family certainly made it easier. Words can’t express how grateful we are."
